When we are in a camp in the middle of a forest with stormy weather, starting a fire isn't easy.
We need to use dry and easily combustible material in small quantity to kindle the fire. We need to protect the fire from winds and storms. We cannot add big log wood to increase the fire. We need to add small sticks and slowly build the fire.
When the fire becomes big, it doesn't need our protection. It can sustain itself for long periods. It
can cook food or boil water and become useful.
Our job as teachers and educators is similar to this.
We need to kindle fire in the hearts of students and make them hungry for knowledge. We should
add small things and gradually increase the fire. We need to protect them from all sorts of storms that are always there especially when they are in 11th and 12th standard. All the forced tests and exams can permanently extinguish the fire within. No amount of fanning will rekindle the fire.
If the fire builds well, it can sustain itself and do great things in life.
